My mom bought a cooking recipe book while we were heading to Candy on last vacation. After returning home, I began to crochet bookmark for easy to find her favorite recipe page. I am enjoying this so much because it came up nicely and fitted perfectly with the cooking recipe book.
Materials (I used)
Sport yarn weight (13 WPI)
Gauge / finished size
No need to worry about gauge and yarn type you are going to use. However the size of the bookmark depends on the yarn type.
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc2tog = [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop] 2 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.
ch 3, 5 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, sl st to same. Crochet ch 37
Row 1: 5 dc in 3rd ch from hook. (5 sts)
Row 2: Join red color. Turn the work, ch 2 (does not count as a hdc), hdc in first 2 st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in last 2 st, (6 sts) turn.
Rows 3-4: ch 2, hdc in 6 sts, turn. (6 sts)
Row 5: ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in 2 sts, hdc2tog, turn. (4 sts)
Rows 6-7: ch 2, hdc in 4 sts, turn. (4 sts)
Row 8: ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in last 2 sts, turn. (3 sts)
Row 9: ch 2, hdc in 3 sts, turn. (3 sts)
Row 10: ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in last st, turn. (2 sts)
Row 11: ch 2, hdc in 2 sts, turn. (2 sts)
Row 12: ch 2, hdc2tog, turn. (1 sts)
Row 13-15: ch 2, hdc in first and last st, turn. (1 sts)
Fasten off. Weave the ends.
